About Book

"In contrast to in situ or on-site observation, remote sensing is the collecting of information about an item or phenomena without having direct contact with it. The phrase is most frequently used to refer to the gathering of information about the Earth and other planets. Remote sensing is used in a wide variety of fields, including geography, land surveying, and the majority of Earth science disciplines (for example, hydrology, ecology, meteorology, oceanography, glaciology, and geology); it is also used in military, intelligence, commercial, economic, and planning applications, as well as humanitarian applications. It encompasses the earth's surface, atmosphere, and seas, and is based on propagating signals (e.g. electromagnetic radiation). It can be classified as ""active"" remote sensing (where a satellite or aircraft transmits a signal to an object and the sensor detects its reflection) or ""passive"" remote sensing (when the reflection of sunlight is detected by the sensor).

Several of the most significant uses of remote sensing have been to study global systems, which necessitate large-scale viewpoints and an interest in understanding how the global environment is evolving. The capacity to collect repeated pictures across huge and sometimes inaccessible regions and to compare the surface features at different periods enables us to get unique insights, for example, on human influences on the Earth. This is true for land, water, and the atmosphere.

This book elucidates the concepts and innovative models around prospective developments with respect to remote sensing. It provides detailed information about the various uses and methods of the subject. The physical principles on which remote sensing are based has been explained without getting into complicated mathematical equations. It deals with remote sensing to estimate a renewable resource, statistical properties of surface slopes, geostationary remote sensing, smart station for data reception, remote sensing for archaeological applications and remote sensing of tropical cyclones. It also explores shipborne high-frequency surface-wave radar, land applications by using GNSS reflectometry and remote sensing in geoscience. Most of the topics covered in this important book cover new techniques and application of remote sensing. The topics included in the book offer thorough insights to the readers about remote sensing. It is an essential guide for graduates and post-graduates in the fields of wireless communication devices, computational analysis and aerial photography and radiometry.
