About Book

Despite the growth in theoretical understandings of health behaviour and standardized approaches to health interventions, e.g. behaviour change taxonomies, health psychology has got comparatively less attention to the importance of the implementation processes – ‘how to’ rather than ‘what to’ of such interventions. Health psychology is a specialty area that focuses on how biology, psychology, behaviour, and social factors influence health and illness. Other terms including medical psychology and behavioural medicine are sometimes used interchangeably with the term health psychology. Health and illness are influenced by a wide variety of factors. While contagious and hereditary illness are common, many behavioural and psychological factors can impact overall physical well-being and various medical conditions. It addresses individual and population-level issues across four domains: clinical, public, community, and critical (social justice). This book provides comprehensive insights into the field of health psychology. It attempts to understand the multiple branches that fall under this discipline and explains how such concepts have practical applications. It deals with AI applications, psychology of immigration, spectroscopic assessment, developmental psychology, neuromuscular diseases, scientific procedures, clinical psychology, analytical psychology and cultural aspects. The main focus of this book is to develop an understanding of health and prevention of diseases. This book, with its detailed analyses and data, will prove immensely beneficial to professionals and students involved in this area at various levels. Through it, we attempt to further enlighten the readers about the new concepts in this field. Coherent flow of topics, student-friendly language and extensive use of examples make this book an invaluable source of knowledge.
