A distributed control system is a control system for a process or plant, wherein control elements are distributed throughout the system. This is contrast to non-distributed systems, which use a single controller at a central location. Developing distributed control system is a major industrial concern since those systems are more and more complex and involved in many critical application fields. The distribution feature of these systems is not without consequences on both the development process and the exploitation of the system: the global behaviour of the system is more complex since distribution introduces new operating modes — abnormal modes. Distributed Control Systems (DCS) are hard to design, debug, test and formally verify. Moreover, the implementation would be eased using automatic methods of distribution which guarantee that the behaviour of the whole system is preserved. The book studies, analyses and uphold the pillars of this field and its utmost significance in modern times. It provides a unified approach of engineering methods, distributed spacecraft system, control system design, computer-aided control, robot systems, fuzzy systems, storage systems, architectures and advanced control solutions. It includes theory, analytical techniques, popular computer tools, simulation details, and applications. It picks up individual branches and explains their need and contribution in the context of the growth of this subject and technology. For all those who are interested in control system, it can prove to be an essential guide.
